JazzReggae’s commitment to sustainability draws national recognition from VH1 and as one of the top 4 most sustainable music festivals.

In efforts to put on a sustainable festival conscious of its environmental impact, JazzReggae will offer free water refilling stations with Event Water solutions. Last year, we were able to dramatically divert our plastic bottle waste by providing attendees with more than 4,000 water refills over the course of the two-day festival. This year, we aim to raise this count and promote awareness of sustainable living practices. Keep an eye out for two snazzy water refilling stations on the festival grounds.

JazzReggae food vendors contribute to the festival’s sustainable efforts by working towards a zero-waste goal. Our sustainability team works to ensure that food vendors avoid plastic bottles and sauce packets, and use recyclable and compostable cutlery, plates, and cups. Waste, recycling, and composting bins will be located throughout the festival grounds to ensure a minimal waste footprint. JazzReggae is also partnering with Biotane Fuels to pick up leftover cooking oil to convert to biodiesel.

Festival attendees also play a part in reducing the carbon footprint of JRF. Instead of plugging into the regular UCLA power grid, festival goers can charge up their phones and other electronics with power generating bikes provided by Rock the Bike. You won’t have to worry about your phones running out of juice as the festival goes into the night, just hop on a bike and charge up.
